《诗》云:"瞻(zhan)彼(bi)淇(qi)澳,侵疋⑩。有斐君(jun1)子(zi),如切如磋,如琢如磨。瑟兮兮,赫兮(xi)暄(xuan)兮。有斐君(jun1)子(zi),终不可召猓""如切(qie)如磋"者,道学也。"如琢如磨"者,自修也。"瑟兮兮"者,恂也。"赫(he)兮(xi)喧兮"者,威仪也。"有(you)斐君子,终不可召(zhao)"者(zhe),道(dao)盛德(de)至善(shan),民之不能(neng)忘也。《诗(shi)》云:"于戏前(qian)王不忘!"君子贤其贤(xian)而(er)亲其亲,小人乐其(qi)乐而利其利,此以没世不忘(wang)也。《康诰(gao)》曰:"克明(ming)德(de)。"《大甲(jia)》曰:"顾天之明命。"《帝典》曰(yue):"克(ke)明峻德。"皆(jie)自明也。汤(tang)之《盘铭》曰(yue):"苟日(ri)新,日日新,又日新。"《康(kang)诰》曰(yue):"作(zuo)新(xin)民。"《诗(shi)》曰:"周虽旧邦,其(qi)命(ming)惟(wei)新。"是故君子无所不用其(qi)极。《诗(shi)》云(yun):"邦畿千里,惟民所止。"《诗》云(yun):"缗蛮黄(huang)鸟,止(zhi)于丘隅。"子曰:"于止(zhi),知其所止。可(ke)以人而不(bu)如鸟(niao)乎(hu)?"《诗》云:"穆(mu)穆(mu)文王,于(yu)缉(ji)熙敬(jing)止!"为人君,止于仁(ren);为人臣(chen),止(zhi)于敬;为人(ren)子,止于孝;为人父,止于(yu)慈;与(yu)国人(ren)交,止于信(xin)。子曰:"听讼,吾犹人也。必也使无讼(song)乎(hu)!"无情(qing)者不(bu)得尽其辞,大畏(wei)民志。此谓(wei)知(zhi)本(ben)。
