《诗》云:"瞻彼淇澳(ao),侵疋(ya)⑩。有(you)斐君子(zi),如切(qie)如磋(cuo),如琢如磨。瑟(se)兮兮,赫兮暄(xuan)兮。有(you)斐君子(zi),终不可召猓""如切如磋"者(zhe),道(dao)学也(ye)。"如(ru)琢如磨"者,自修也。"瑟(se)兮(xi)兮"者,恂(xun)也。"赫兮(xi)喧兮"者,威仪也。"有斐(fei)君子,终不可召"者,道(dao)盛德至善,民之不(bu)能(neng)忘也。《诗》云:"于戏(xi)前王不忘!"君子贤(xian)其(qi)贤而亲其亲(qin),小人(ren)乐其乐而利(li)其(qi)利,此以(yi)没世不忘也。《康诰》曰:"克(ke)明德(de)。"《大甲》曰(yue):"顾天之明(ming)命(ming)。"《帝典》曰:"克明峻(jun4)德。"皆自(zi)明也(ye)。汤之(zhi)《盘(pan)铭》曰:"苟(gou)日新,日(ri)日新,又日(ri)新。"《康诰》曰(yue):"作新民。"《诗》曰(yue):"周虽旧(jiu)邦,其(qi)命惟(wei)新。"是(shi)故君子无所不用(yong)其极。《诗(shi)》云:"邦畿千里(li),惟民所(suo)止(zhi)。"《诗》云(yun):"缗蛮黄(huang)鸟,止于(yu)丘(qiu)隅。"子曰:"于止,知其所(suo)止。可(ke)以人(ren)而不如鸟乎?"《诗(shi)》云:"穆穆文(wen)王(wang),于(yu)缉熙(xi)敬止!"为人君,止(zhi)于(yu)仁;为人臣,止于敬;为人子,止于孝;为(wei)人父,止于慈(ci);与(yu)国人交(jiao),止于信(xin)。子曰:"听(ting)讼(song),吾犹(you)人也。必也使无讼(song)乎!"无(wu)情(qing)者(zhe)不得尽其(qi)辞,大畏民志。此谓知(zhi)本。
