夫祭之为物(wu)大矣(yi),其兴(xing)物备矣,顺以备者也,其教之本与?是(shi)故(gu),君子之(zhi)教 也,外则(ze)教之以尊其君长(zhang),内则(ze)教(jiao)之以(yi)孝(xiao)于其亲(qin)。是故,明(ming)君(jun1)在上(shang),则诸臣服(fu)从, 崇(chong)事宗庙社稷,则子孙顺(shun)孝。尽(jin)其道,端(duan)其义,而(er)教生(sheng)焉。是(shi)故君子(zi)之事君(jun1)也, 必身行之,所不安(an)于上(shang),则不以使下;所恶于下,则不以事上;非诸人,行诸己, 非(fei)教(jiao)之道(dao)也。是故(gu)君(jun1)子(zi)之教(jiao)也,必由其(qi)本,顺之至也,祭其是与?故曰:"祭者, 孝之本(ben)也(ye)已。"
