《诗(shi)》云:"瞻(zhan)彼(bi)淇(qi)澳,侵疋⑩。有斐君子,如切如磋,如琢如磨。瑟兮兮(xi),赫兮暄兮。有斐(fei)君子,终不(bu)可召猓""如切如磋"者,道学(xue)也(ye)。"如(ru)琢(zhuo)如磨(mo)"者(zhe),自修也(ye)。"瑟(se)兮(xi)兮"者,恂也。"赫兮喧(xuan)兮"者,威仪也。"有(you)斐君子,终不可召"者(zhe),道(dao)盛德(de)至善,民(min)之(zhi)不(bu)能忘(wang)也。《诗》云:"于(yu)戏前(qian)王不忘!"君子(zi)贤其贤而亲其亲(qin),小人乐其乐而利其(qi)利,此(ci)以没世不忘(wang)也。《康(kang)诰》曰(yue):"克明德(de)。"《大甲》曰:"顾(gu)天(tian)之明命。"《帝典》曰:"克明峻(jun4)德。"皆(jie)自明也。汤之(zhi)《盘(pan)铭》曰:"苟日新,日(ri)日新(xin),又日(ri)新。"《康(kang)诰》曰:"作新民。"《诗》曰(yue):"周虽旧邦,其(qi)命(ming)惟新。"是故君子无所不用其极。《诗》云(yun):"邦(bang)畿千(qian)里,惟民所止。"《诗》云:"缗蛮黄(huang)鸟,止于(yu)丘隅。"子曰(yue):"于(yu)止,知其(qi)所止。可(ke)以人而(er)不如鸟(niao)乎?"《诗》云:"穆穆文王,于缉(ji)熙敬止!"为人(ren)君,止于仁;为人臣,止于敬;为人(ren)子,止于(yu)孝;为人(ren)父,止(zhi)于慈(ci);与(yu)国(guo)人交,止于信(xin)。子曰:"听(ting)讼(song),吾犹(you)人也。必也使无(wu)讼乎!"无情者(zhe)不得尽其辞,大畏(wei)民志。此谓(wei)知本。
