《诗》云(yun):"瞻彼淇(qi)澳,侵疋(ya)⑩。有(you)斐(fei)君子,如切如磋(cuo),如琢如磨。瑟兮(xi)兮,赫兮暄兮。有斐君子,终不可召猓""如切如磋"者(zhe),道(dao)学(xue)也。"如琢如磨"者,自修也(ye)。"瑟兮(xi)兮"者,恂(xun)也。"赫兮喧兮(xi)"者,威仪也。"有斐君子(zi),终(zhong)不(bu)可(ke)召"者,道(dao)盛德(de)至善,民(min)之不能忘也。《诗(shi)》云(yun):"于戏前(qian)王(wang)不忘!"君(jun1)子贤(xian)其贤(xian)而亲其(qi)亲,小(xiao)人(ren)乐(le)其乐而(er)利其(qi)利(li),此以(yi)没世(shi)不忘也。《康诰(gao)》曰(yue):"克明德。"《大甲》曰(yue):"顾天之明命(ming)。"《帝典》曰:"克(ke)明峻德(de)。"皆自明也。汤之《盘铭》曰:"苟(gou)日新,日日新,又日(ri)新。"《康诰(gao)》曰(yue):"作(zuo)新民。"《诗(shi)》曰:"周虽旧邦,其命(ming)惟新。"是故君子无所不用其极。《诗》云:"邦畿(ji)千(qian)里,惟(wei)民所止。"《诗》云(yun):"缗蛮(man)黄鸟,止于丘(qiu)隅。"子(zi)曰:"于(yu)止,知(zhi)其所止。可(ke)以人而(er)不如鸟(niao)乎(hu)?"《诗》云(yun):"穆(mu)穆文王(wang),于缉熙敬止(zhi)!"为人君,止于(yu)仁;为人臣(chen),止(zhi)于敬;为人子,止于(yu)孝;为(wei)人父,止于慈;与国人交,止于信。子(zi)曰:"听讼(song),吾犹人(ren)也。必也使无讼乎!"无情者不得尽其(qi)辞,大畏民(min)志。此谓知本。
