《诗(shi)》云(yun):"瞻彼(bi)淇澳,侵(qin)疋(ya)⑩。有斐君子,如切(qie)如磋,如琢如磨。瑟兮兮(xi),赫(he)兮(xi)暄兮。有(you)斐君(jun1)子,终不(bu)可(ke)召猓""如切如磋"者,道学也。"如琢如磨"者,自修(xiu)也。"瑟兮(xi)兮"者,恂也。"赫兮喧兮"者(zhe),威仪也。"有斐君子,终(zhong)不可召"者,道盛(sheng)德至善,民之(zhi)不能(neng)忘(wang)也。《诗》云:"于戏前王不忘!"君子贤其贤而亲其亲(qin),小人(ren)乐其(qi)乐而利其利,此以没世(shi)不忘(wang)也。《康诰》曰:"克明(ming)德。"《大(da)甲》曰:"顾(gu)天之(zhi)明命(ming)。"《帝(di)典》曰(yue):"克明峻(jun4)德。"皆自明也。汤之《盘铭》曰(yue):"苟日新,日(ri)日新(xin),又日(ri)新。"《康诰》曰(yue):"作(zuo)新民。"《诗(shi)》曰:"周虽旧邦(bang),其命惟新。"是(shi)故君(jun1)子无所不用其极。《诗》云:"邦畿千(qian)里,惟(wei)民(min)所止。"《诗》云:"缗蛮黄(huang)鸟(niao),止于丘隅。"子曰:"于(yu)止(zhi),知其所止(zhi)。可(ke)以人而不(bu)如鸟乎?"《诗》云(yun):"穆穆文(wen)王(wang),于(yu)缉熙敬止!"为人君,止于(yu)仁;为人臣,止(zhi)于(yu)敬(jing);为人子,止于(yu)孝;为人父(fu),止于(yu)慈;与(yu)国人交,止于信。子(zi)曰:"听讼(song),吾(wu)犹(you)人也。必也使无讼乎!"无(wu)情(qing)者不得尽其辞,大畏民志(zhi)。此谓知本。
