《诗(shi)》云:"瞻彼淇澳(ao),侵疋(ya)⑩。有(you)斐(fei)君(jun1)子,如切如磋,如琢如(ru)磨。瑟兮(xi)兮,赫兮暄兮。有斐君子,终(zhong)不可召(zhao)猓""如切如磋(cuo)"者,道学也。"如(ru)琢如磨"者(zhe),自修也(ye)。"瑟(se)兮(xi)兮"者,恂也。"赫兮喧兮"者,威仪也。"有斐君子,终(zhong)不可召"者,道盛德(de)至善,民之不能(neng)忘也。《诗》云(yun):"于戏前(qian)王不(bu)忘(wang)!"君子贤其贤(xian)而亲其亲,小人乐其(qi)乐而(er)利(li)其利,此(ci)以没世(shi)不忘也。《康诰(gao)》曰:"克明(ming)德。"《大(da)甲》曰(yue):"顾天之明(ming)命。"《帝(di)典》曰:"克明(ming)峻德。"皆自明也。汤之《盘铭(ming)》曰(yue):"苟(gou)日新,日日新(xin),又日新。"《康诰》曰:"作新(xin)民。"《诗》曰(yue):"周虽(sui)旧(jiu)邦,其(qi)命惟新。"是故君子(zi)无所不用其极。《诗》云:"邦(bang)畿千里,惟民所止。"《诗(shi)》云:"缗蛮(man)黄(huang)鸟,止于丘(qiu)隅。"子曰:"于止(zhi),知(zhi)其所(suo)止。可以人而不如(ru)鸟乎?"《诗(shi)》云(yun):"穆穆文王,于缉熙敬止!"为人君,止(zhi)于(yu)仁;为(wei)人臣,止于敬;为人子,止于孝;为人父,止于慈(ci);与国(guo)人交(jiao),止于信。子曰:"听讼,吾犹(you)人也。必也(ye)使无讼乎(hu)!"无(wu)情者不得(de)尽其辞,大畏民(min)志。此谓知(zhi)本。
