《诗》云(yun):"瞻彼淇澳,侵疋(ya)⑩。有斐君子,如切如磋,如琢(zhuo)如磨。瑟(se)兮兮,赫(he)兮暄(xuan)兮。有(you)斐君子,终不可召猓(guo)""如切如磋"者(zhe),道(dao)学(xue)也。"如(ru)琢(zhuo)如磨"者,自(zi)修(xiu)也。"瑟兮兮"者(zhe),恂也(ye)。"赫兮喧兮"者(zhe),威(wei)仪也。"有斐(fei)君子,终(zhong)不可召"者(zhe),道盛德至善(shan),民之不(bu)能忘也。《诗(shi)》云:"于(yu)戏前(qian)王不忘(wang)!"君(jun1)子贤其贤(xian)而亲其(qi)亲,小人乐其乐而(er)利其利,此以(yi)没(mei)世不忘(wang)也(ye)。《康诰》曰(yue):"克明德(de)。"《大甲》曰:"顾天(tian)之明命。"《帝典》曰(yue):"克明峻德。"皆(jie)自(zi)明也。汤之(zhi)《盘(pan)铭》曰:"苟日新,日日新,又日新。"《康诰》曰(yue):"作(zuo)新民。"《诗(shi)》曰:"周虽旧邦,其(qi)命惟(wei)新。"是故(gu)君子(zi)无所(suo)不用其极。《诗》云:"邦(bang)畿千(qian)里,惟民(min)所止(zhi)。"《诗(shi)》云:"缗(min)蛮黄鸟,止于丘(qiu)隅。"子曰:"于止,知其所止(zhi)。可以(yi)人而不如鸟乎?"《诗》云:"穆穆(mu)文王,于缉熙(xi)敬(jing)止!"为人君,止于(yu)仁;为人(ren)臣,止于(yu)敬;为人(ren)子,止于孝;为人父,止于慈;与国人交(jiao),止于信。子曰:"听讼,吾犹人(ren)也(ye)。必也使(shi)无讼(song)乎(hu)!"无情者不得尽其辞,大畏民志。此(ci)谓知本。
