古之欲明明德于天(tian)下者,先治其国。欲治其国者,先齐其家。欲齐(qi)其家者(zhe),先修(xiu)其身。欲(yu)修其(qi)身者(zhe),先正其(qi)心(xin)。欲正其心(xin)者,先诚其意。欲诚其(qi)意者,先(xian)致其(qi)知。致知在格物。物(wu)格而(er)后知至,知至而后意诚(cheng),意诚而后心正,心正而后身修(xiu),身修而后(hou)家齐(qi),家(jia)齐(qi)而后(hou)国(guo)治,国治(zhi)而后天(tian)下平。自天子以至于庶人,壹是皆以修(xiu)身为(wei)本,其本乱而末治者否矣。其(qi)所厚者薄(bao),而其所薄(bao)者厚,未(wei)之(zhi)有也(ye)。此谓(wei)知(zhi)本,此(ci)谓知之(zhi)至(zhi)也。
