《诗》云(yun):"瞻(zhan)彼淇澳,侵疋(ya)⑩。有斐(fei)君子,如(ru)切如磋(cuo),如琢(zhuo)如磨。瑟(se)兮兮(xi),赫兮(xi)暄兮。有斐君子,终(zhong)不可召猓(guo)""如切如磋(cuo)"者(zhe),道学也。"如琢如磨(mo)"者,自修(xiu)也。"瑟兮兮(xi)"者,恂也(ye)。"赫(he)兮喧兮"者,威仪也。"有斐君子,终(zhong)不(bu)可召"者,道盛德(de)至善(shan),民之不能(neng)忘也。《诗(shi)》云:"于戏前(qian)王不忘(wang)!"君子贤其贤而亲其亲,小人(ren)乐其(qi)乐而利(li)其利,此以没世不忘(wang)也。《康诰(gao)》曰(yue):"克明(ming)德。"《大甲》曰:"顾天之明命(ming)。"《帝典(dian)》曰(yue):"克明峻德。"皆自明也(ye)。汤之《盘铭》曰:"苟日新,日(ri)日新(xin),又(you)日新。"《康诰(gao)》曰:"作新(xin)民。"《诗》曰:"周虽旧邦,其命惟新。"是(shi)故君子无所(suo)不用其极。《诗(shi)》云(yun):"邦畿千里,惟(wei)民(min)所止。"《诗》云:"缗(min)蛮黄(huang)鸟(niao),止(zhi)于丘隅。"子曰:"于止(zhi),知其所止(zhi)。可以人而不如鸟乎?"《诗》云:"穆穆文(wen)王,于缉熙敬(jing)止!"为(wei)人君,止(zhi)于仁;为人臣,止于(yu)敬(jing);为(wei)人子,止于(yu)孝;为人父,止(zhi)于(yu)慈;与国人交,止(zhi)于信。子曰:"听讼(song),吾犹人也(ye)。必也(ye)使无讼乎!"无(wu)情者不(bu)得尽(jin)其(qi)辞,大畏民志(zhi)。此谓知(zhi)本。
