《诗(shi)》云:"瞻(zhan)彼(bi)淇(qi)澳,侵(qin)疋⑩。有斐君子,如(ru)切如(ru)磋,如琢如(ru)磨(mo)。瑟(se)兮(xi)兮,赫兮暄兮。有斐(fei)君子,终不(bu)可召猓(guo)""如切如磋"者,道(dao)学也。"如(ru)琢如(ru)磨(mo)"者,自(zi)修也。"瑟(se)兮(xi)兮"者,恂也。"赫兮喧兮"者,威仪也。"有斐君子,终(zhong)不可(ke)召"者,道盛德至善(shan),民之(zhi)不(bu)能忘也。《诗》云:"于戏前王不忘!"君子贤(xian)其贤(xian)而亲其亲,小(xiao)人乐其(qi)乐(le)而利其利,此以(yi)没世不忘(wang)也。《康(kang)诰》曰:"克明德(de)。"《大甲》曰(yue):"顾(gu)天之明命。"《帝典》曰:"克明(ming)峻德。"皆自(zi)明也。汤(tang)之《盘铭》曰:"苟日新,日日新,又日新。"《康诰》曰(yue):"作(zuo)新(xin)民。"《诗》曰:"周虽旧邦,其(qi)命(ming)惟新。"是故(gu)君(jun1)子无(wu)所不用其极。《诗》云:"邦(bang)畿千里(li),惟民所(suo)止。"《诗》云(yun):"缗蛮黄(huang)鸟,止于丘隅。"子(zi)曰:"于(yu)止,知(zhi)其(qi)所止。可以人而不(bu)如鸟乎?"《诗》云:"穆穆文王,于缉熙(xi)敬止!"为人君,止(zhi)于(yu)仁(ren);为人(ren)臣,止(zhi)于敬;为(wei)人子,止于孝;为人父,止于慈(ci);与国人(ren)交(jiao),止于(yu)信。子曰:"听讼,吾犹人也(ye)。必也使无讼乎(hu)!"无(wu)情者不得尽(jin)其辞(ci),大畏(wei)民志。此(ci)谓知本。
