《诗》云:"瞻彼淇澳(ao),侵(qin)疋⑩。有斐君(jun1)子,如切(qie)如(ru)磋,如琢如(ru)磨。瑟兮兮,赫兮暄兮。有斐(fei)君子(zi),终不可召(zhao)猓""如切如磋(cuo)"者(zhe),道(dao)学也。"如(ru)琢如(ru)磨"者,自修也。"瑟(se)兮兮(xi)"者,恂也。"赫兮喧兮(xi)"者,威仪也(ye)。"有(you)斐君子,终不(bu)可召"者,道盛(sheng)德至善,民之(zhi)不能忘也。《诗(shi)》云:"于戏前(qian)王不忘!"君子贤(xian)其贤而亲其(qi)亲(qin),小人乐其乐而(er)利其利,此以没世不(bu)忘也。《康(kang)诰(gao)》曰:"克明德。"《大甲》曰:"顾天之明命。"《帝典(dian)》曰:"克明峻德。"皆自明也(ye)。汤之《盘(pan)铭(ming)》曰(yue):"苟日(ri)新,日日新,又日新。"《康(kang)诰》曰:"作(zuo)新民。"《诗(shi)》曰:"周虽旧邦,其命惟(wei)新。"是(shi)故君子无所不用其极。《诗》云:"邦(bang)畿(ji)千里,惟(wei)民所(suo)止(zhi)。"《诗(shi)》云:"缗蛮黄鸟,止于丘隅(yu)。"子曰(yue):"于止,知其所止。可以人而不(bu)如鸟乎?"《诗》云:"穆(mu)穆(mu)文王(wang),于缉熙(xi)敬止!"为人(ren)君,止于(yu)仁;为人臣,止于敬(jing);为人(ren)子,止于孝;为(wei)人父(fu),止于慈;与国(guo)人交(jiao),止于信。子曰:"听讼(song),吾(wu)犹(you)人也。必也使无讼(song)乎!"无情者不得尽(jin)其(qi)辞,大畏民志(zhi)。此谓知(zhi)本。
