《诗》云(yun):"瞻(zhan)彼(bi)淇澳(ao),侵疋⑩。有斐(fei)君子,如切如(ru)磋(cuo),如琢如(ru)磨。瑟兮(xi)兮,赫兮暄兮。有(you)斐君子,终(zhong)不可召猓""如切如(ru)磋(cuo)"者,道学也。"如琢如(ru)磨(mo)"者(zhe),自(zi)修也(ye)。"瑟兮(xi)兮"者,恂也。"赫兮喧兮"者,威仪也(ye)。"有(you)斐君(jun1)子,终不可召(zhao)"者,道盛德(de)至善,民(min)之(zhi)不(bu)能忘也(ye)。《诗》云:"于戏前王(wang)不忘!"君子(zi)贤(xian)其(qi)贤(xian)而亲其亲,小人(ren)乐其乐而利其利,此以没世不(bu)忘(wang)也(ye)。《康诰》曰:"克明德。"《大甲(jia)》曰:"顾天之明(ming)命。"《帝典》曰(yue):"克明峻德。"皆(jie)自明也(ye)。汤(tang)之《盘铭(ming)》曰:"苟日新,日日新,又(you)日新。"《康诰(gao)》曰:"作(zuo)新民。"《诗》曰:"周(zhou)虽旧邦,其命惟新。"是故(gu)君子(zi)无(wu)所不用(yong)其(qi)极。《诗》云:"邦(bang)畿千里(li),惟(wei)民所止。"《诗》云:"缗(min)蛮(man)黄(huang)鸟(niao),止于丘隅。"子曰(yue):"于止(zhi),知其所止。可(ke)以人而(er)不(bu)如鸟乎?"《诗》云:"穆穆文(wen)王(wang),于缉熙(xi)敬止!"为人(ren)君,止(zhi)于仁;为人臣,止于敬;为人子,止于孝;为人父(fu),止于慈;与国人(ren)交,止于信(xin)。子(zi)曰:"听讼(song),吾犹人也。必(bi)也使无讼乎(hu)!"无情(qing)者(zhe)不得(de)尽其辞,大(da)畏民(min)志。此谓知本。
