《诗》云:"瞻(zhan)彼淇(qi)澳,侵疋⑩。有斐君子,如切如磋(cuo),如琢(zhuo)如磨。瑟(se)兮(xi)兮,赫兮暄(xuan)兮。有斐君子,终不可召猓(guo)""如切如磋"者,道(dao)学(xue)也(ye)。"如琢如磨(mo)"者,自(zi)修(xiu)也。"瑟兮兮"者,恂也。"赫(he)兮(xi)喧兮(xi)"者(zhe),威仪也(ye)。"有斐(fei)君子,终不(bu)可召(zhao)"者(zhe),道(dao)盛德至善,民(min)之不(bu)能(neng)忘(wang)也。《诗》云(yun):"于戏前王不(bu)忘(wang)!"君子(zi)贤其贤而亲其亲,小人乐其乐而(er)利其利,此以没世不(bu)忘也(ye)。《康诰(gao)》曰(yue):"克(ke)明德。"《大甲》曰:"顾天(tian)之明命。"《帝(di)典》曰:"克明(ming)峻德。"皆自明(ming)也。汤之(zhi)《盘铭》曰:"苟日新,日日新,又日(ri)新。"《康诰》曰:"作新民。"《诗》曰:"周虽旧邦,其(qi)命惟新。"是故(gu)君(jun1)子无(wu)所不用其(qi)极。《诗(shi)》云(yun):"邦(bang)畿千里,惟民所止(zhi)。"《诗(shi)》云:"缗蛮黄(huang)鸟,止于丘(qiu)隅(yu)。"子曰:"于止,知其所止。可(ke)以人(ren)而不如鸟乎?"《诗》云(yun):"穆穆(mu)文(wen)王,于缉熙(xi)敬止!"为人君,止(zhi)于(yu)仁;为(wei)人臣,止于敬(jing);为人子(zi),止于(yu)孝;为人父,止于慈;与国人交(jiao),止于(yu)信。子(zi)曰:"听讼,吾犹(you)人也(ye)。必也使无讼乎(hu)!"无(wu)情(qing)者不(bu)得尽其辞,大(da)畏(wei)民志。此谓知本。
