《诗》云:"瞻(zhan)彼淇(qi)澳,侵疋⑩。有斐君子,如切如磋,如(ru)琢如磨(mo)。瑟兮(xi)兮,赫兮(xi)暄兮。有斐(fei)君子,终(zhong)不(bu)可召猓""如(ru)切如磋(cuo)"者,道(dao)学也(ye)。"如琢(zhuo)如磨"者(zhe),自(zi)修也(ye)。"瑟兮(xi)兮"者,恂也。"赫兮喧(xuan)兮(xi)"者,威(wei)仪也。"有斐君子(zi),终(zhong)不可召"者(zhe),道(dao)盛德至(zhi)善,民(min)之不能忘(wang)也。《诗》云:"于戏前王不忘(wang)!"君子贤(xian)其贤而亲其亲,小人乐其(qi)乐而(er)利其利,此以没世不(bu)忘(wang)也。《康诰》曰(yue):"克(ke)明德。"《大甲》曰:"顾(gu)天之(zhi)明(ming)命。"《帝典》曰:"克明峻德(de)。"皆自(zi)明(ming)也(ye)。汤之《盘铭》曰:"苟(gou)日新(xin),日(ri)日(ri)新,又日新(xin)。"《康诰》曰:"作新民(min)。"《诗》曰:"周虽旧(jiu)邦,其命惟新。"是故君子无所不用其极。《诗》云:"邦畿(ji)千里,惟民所止。"《诗》云:"缗(min)蛮(man)黄鸟,止于(yu)丘隅。"子曰(yue):"于止,知其所(suo)止(zhi)。可(ke)以(yi)人而不如鸟乎?"《诗(shi)》云:"穆穆文(wen)王,于缉熙敬止!"为(wei)人君(jun1),止(zhi)于(yu)仁;为人臣,止于敬(jing);为人子,止于(yu)孝;为人父(fu),止于慈;与国人交,止于信。子曰:"听讼,吾犹人也。必也使无(wu)讼乎!"无情者不得尽其辞,大畏民(min)志(zhi)。此谓知(zhi)本。
