《诗》云(yun):"瞻彼淇澳,侵疋⑩。有斐(fei)君子(zi),如(ru)切如(ru)磋(cuo),如琢(zhuo)如(ru)磨。瑟兮兮(xi),赫兮暄兮。有(you)斐君子,终(zhong)不可召猓""如切如(ru)磋"者,道学(xue)也。"如(ru)琢如磨"者,自(zi)修也。"瑟(se)兮兮"者,恂也。"赫(he)兮(xi)喧兮(xi)"者,威仪也。"有斐(fei)君子(zi),终不可(ke)召"者,道盛德至(zhi)善(shan),民(min)之(zhi)不能忘(wang)也。《诗(shi)》云:"于戏前(qian)王(wang)不(bu)忘!"君子贤其贤而亲其亲,小人(ren)乐其乐(le)而利其利,此以(yi)没世(shi)不忘(wang)也。《康(kang)诰》曰:"克明德。"《大甲》曰:"顾(gu)天之(zhi)明命。"《帝典》曰:"克(ke)明峻德。"皆自明也。汤之(zhi)《盘铭》曰:"苟(gou)日(ri)新,日日新,又(you)日新。"《康诰》曰(yue):"作新民。"《诗》曰:"周虽旧邦,其(qi)命惟新。"是(shi)故君子(zi)无所(suo)不用其(qi)极。《诗》云:"邦畿千(qian)里(li),惟民所止。"《诗(shi)》云:"缗蛮(man)黄(huang)鸟,止于丘隅。"子曰:"于(yu)止,知其所止。可(ke)以人(ren)而(er)不(bu)如(ru)鸟乎?"《诗》云:"穆穆文(wen)王,于缉熙敬(jing)止(zhi)!"为人君,止于仁;为(wei)人臣,止于(yu)敬;为人(ren)子,止于孝(xiao);为(wei)人(ren)父(fu),止于慈;与(yu)国(guo)人交,止(zhi)于(yu)信(xin)。子(zi)曰:"听讼(song),吾犹人也。必也使(shi)无讼乎!"无情(qing)者不得尽(jin)其辞(ci),大畏(wei)民(min)志(zhi)。此谓知本。
