《诗(shi)》云(yun):"瞻彼淇澳,侵(qin)疋⑩。有斐君子,如切如磋(cuo),如琢如磨(mo)。瑟兮(xi)兮,赫兮暄兮。有斐君(jun1)子,终不可召猓(guo)""如切如磋"者,道学也。"如(ru)琢(zhuo)如磨"者,自(zi)修也。"瑟兮兮"者,恂也(ye)。"赫兮喧兮"者,威(wei)仪也。"有(you)斐君子,终不可(ke)召"者,道(dao)盛(sheng)德至(zhi)善,民之(zhi)不能忘也。《诗》云:"于戏前王不忘(wang)!"君子贤其贤而亲(qin)其(qi)亲,小人乐其乐而(er)利其利,此以(yi)没世不忘也。《康诰》曰:"克(ke)明德。"《大甲》曰:"顾天之(zhi)明(ming)命。"《帝(di)典》曰:"克明(ming)峻(jun4)德(de)。"皆自(zi)明也。汤之《盘铭》曰(yue):"苟日(ri)新,日日新,又(you)日新。"《康诰》曰:"作新(xin)民。"《诗(shi)》曰(yue):"周虽旧邦(bang),其(qi)命惟新。"是故君子无所不用其极。《诗(shi)》云:"邦(bang)畿(ji)千里,惟民所止。"《诗》云:"缗蛮黄鸟,止于丘隅(yu)。"子曰:"于止(zhi),知其所止(zhi)。可以人而不如(ru)鸟乎?"《诗》云:"穆(mu)穆文(wen)王(wang),于缉(ji)熙敬(jing)止!"为(wei)人君,止(zhi)于仁;为人臣,止于敬(jing);为人子,止于(yu)孝;为人父(fu),止于慈;与(yu)国人(ren)交,止(zhi)于(yu)信。子曰(yue):"听讼(song),吾犹人也。必也(ye)使(shi)无(wu)讼乎!"无情者不得尽(jin)其辞,大(da)畏民志。此谓知(zhi)本。
