夫祭(ji)之为物大矣(yi),其兴物(wu)备(bei)矣,顺(shun)以备(bei)者(zhe)也(ye),其教(jiao)之本与(yu)?是故,君(jun1)子之教 也,外则教之以(yi)尊其(qi)君(jun1)长,内则教之以孝(xiao)于其亲。是故,明君(jun1)在上,则诸臣(chen)服从, 崇事(shi)宗庙社稷,则子孙顺孝(xiao)。尽其(qi)道,端其义,而教生焉(yan)。是故(gu)君子(zi)之(zhi)事(shi)君也, 必(bi)身行之,所不安于上,则不(bu)以使(shi)下;所恶于下(xia),则不以(yi)事上;非诸(zhu)人,行诸(zhu)己, 非教之道也。是故(gu)君子之教也(ye),必由其本,顺之至也(ye),祭(ji)其是(shi)与(yu)?故曰:"祭者, 孝(xiao)之本也(ye)已。"
