《诗》云:"瞻彼淇(qi)澳(ao),侵(qin)疋⑩。有斐君子,如(ru)切如(ru)磋,如(ru)琢如磨。瑟兮兮,赫兮(xi)暄兮(xi)。有斐君子(zi),终(zhong)不可召猓(guo)""如切如磋"者,道(dao)学也。"如琢如(ru)磨"者,自修(xiu)也。"瑟兮兮"者,恂也。"赫(he)兮(xi)喧(xuan)兮"者,威仪也。"有斐君子,终(zhong)不(bu)可召"者(zhe),道盛德(de)至(zhi)善(shan),民之(zhi)不能忘也(ye)。《诗》云(yun):"于戏前(qian)王不忘!"君子贤其贤而亲(qin)其(qi)亲,小人乐其乐(le)而利其利,此以(yi)没世不忘(wang)也。《康诰》曰:"克明德(de)。"《大甲》曰(yue):"顾(gu)天(tian)之明(ming)命。"《帝典(dian)》曰:"克明峻德。"皆自(zi)明也。汤之《盘(pan)铭(ming)》曰:"苟日新,日(ri)日(ri)新(xin),又日新。"《康诰》曰:"作(zuo)新民。"《诗》曰:"周虽旧邦,其命惟新。"是故君子无所(suo)不用其极。《诗》云:"邦(bang)畿千里,惟民所止。"《诗(shi)》云:"缗(min)蛮(man)黄鸟(niao),止于丘(qiu)隅。"子曰(yue):"于止,知其所(suo)止。可以(yi)人(ren)而不(bu)如鸟乎(hu)?"《诗(shi)》云:"穆(mu)穆文王,于缉熙敬止!"为人(ren)君,止于(yu)仁;为(wei)人臣,止(zhi)于敬;为人子,止(zhi)于孝;为人父,止于慈;与国人交,止于(yu)信。子曰(yue):"听讼(song),吾犹人也(ye)。必也(ye)使无(wu)讼乎!"无(wu)情者不得尽(jin)其(qi)辞,大畏民志。此谓知本。
