《诗》云(yun):"瞻彼淇(qi)澳,侵(qin)疋⑩。有斐(fei)君(jun1)子,如切如磋,如琢如磨。瑟兮兮,赫(he)兮暄兮。有斐(fei)君子(zi),终(zhong)不(bu)可召猓""如切如磋(cuo)"者,道学(xue)也。"如(ru)琢如(ru)磨"者,自修(xiu)也。"瑟兮兮"者,恂也。"赫兮喧(xuan)兮"者,威仪也(ye)。"有斐君(jun1)子,终(zhong)不可召"者,道(dao)盛德至善(shan),民之不(bu)能忘也。《诗》云:"于戏前王(wang)不忘!"君子贤(xian)其贤(xian)而亲其(qi)亲(qin),小(xiao)人乐(le)其乐而(er)利其利,此(ci)以没世不(bu)忘(wang)也。《康(kang)诰》曰(yue):"克(ke)明德。"《大甲》曰:"顾(gu)天之明命(ming)。"《帝(di)典》曰:"克明(ming)峻德。"皆自(zi)明(ming)也。汤(tang)之《盘铭(ming)》曰:"苟(gou)日新,日(ri)日新,又日新(xin)。"《康诰》曰:"作(zuo)新民。"《诗》曰:"周虽旧邦,其命惟(wei)新。"是故(gu)君子无所不用其极(ji)。《诗》云:"邦畿千里,惟民(min)所(suo)止。"《诗》云:"缗蛮黄鸟,止于(yu)丘隅。"子曰:"于(yu)止(zhi),知(zhi)其(qi)所止(zhi)。可以人而不如(ru)鸟乎(hu)?"《诗》云(yun):"穆穆文王(wang),于缉(ji)熙敬(jing)止!"为人君,止于仁(ren);为人臣,止于敬;为人(ren)子,止于孝;为人父,止于(yu)慈;与国(guo)人(ren)交,止于(yu)信。子曰:"听讼,吾犹人也。必也使无(wu)讼乎(hu)!"无情者不得尽其(qi)辞,大(da)畏民志。此谓知(zhi)本。
