《诗》云(yun):"瞻(zhan)彼淇(qi)澳,侵疋⑩。有斐君(jun1)子,如切如磋(cuo),如(ru)琢(zhuo)如磨。瑟兮(xi)兮,赫(he)兮(xi)暄(xuan)兮。有斐君子,终不可召猓(guo)""如切如(ru)磋(cuo)"者,道学(xue)也。"如琢如磨"者,自修(xiu)也。"瑟兮兮"者,恂也。"赫兮喧兮(xi)"者,威仪也。"有斐(fei)君子,终不可召"者,道盛德至善,民(min)之(zhi)不能(neng)忘也。《诗》云:"于(yu)戏前王不忘(wang)!"君子贤(xian)其(qi)贤而(er)亲其(qi)亲,小人(ren)乐其乐而利其利,此(ci)以没世不忘也。《康诰(gao)》曰:"克明(ming)德(de)。"《大甲(jia)》曰:"顾天之明命。"《帝(di)典》曰:"克(ke)明峻德。"皆自明也。汤之(zhi)《盘铭》曰(yue):"苟日新,日(ri)日新(xin),又日(ri)新。"《康诰(gao)》曰:"作新民。"《诗》曰:"周虽(sui)旧邦,其命(ming)惟新。"是故(gu)君子(zi)无所不(bu)用其极。《诗》云:"邦畿千里,惟民(min)所止。"《诗》云(yun):"缗(min)蛮黄(huang)鸟,止于丘(qiu)隅。"子曰:"于止,知其(qi)所止。可以(yi)人而不(bu)如(ru)鸟(niao)乎?"《诗(shi)》云:"穆穆文王,于缉熙(xi)敬(jing)止!"为人(ren)君,止(zhi)于仁;为人臣,止于敬(jing);为人子,止(zhi)于孝;为人父,止于慈;与(yu)国人交,止于信。子曰:"听讼,吾(wu)犹人也(ye)。必也(ye)使无(wu)讼(song)乎!"无情者不得尽其辞,大畏民(min)志。此谓知本(ben)。
