《诗》云:"瞻彼淇澳,侵(qin)疋⑩。有斐君子,如切如磋(cuo),如(ru)琢(zhuo)如磨。瑟兮(xi)兮,赫兮暄兮(xi)。有斐君(jun1)子,终不可召猓""如切(qie)如磋"者,道学也(ye)。"如琢如磨"者,自修(xiu)也。"瑟兮兮"者,恂(xun)也(ye)。"赫兮喧兮"者,威仪也。"有(you)斐君子,终(zhong)不可召(zhao)"者,道(dao)盛德至(zhi)善,民(min)之不能忘也。《诗(shi)》云:"于(yu)戏前(qian)王不忘!"君子(zi)贤其贤(xian)而亲其(qi)亲,小人乐其(qi)乐而利其利,此以(yi)没(mei)世不忘也(ye)。《康(kang)诰》曰:"克明(ming)德。"《大甲》曰(yue):"顾天之明命。"《帝典》曰:"克(ke)明峻(jun4)德。"皆(jie)自明也。汤之《盘(pan)铭(ming)》曰:"苟日新,日日新,又日(ri)新。"《康(kang)诰》曰(yue):"作新民。"《诗(shi)》曰:"周虽(sui)旧邦(bang),其命惟新。"是故(gu)君(jun1)子无所(suo)不用(yong)其(qi)极。《诗(shi)》云:"邦畿(ji)千里(li),惟民所(suo)止。"《诗(shi)》云:"缗蛮黄鸟,止(zhi)于丘(qiu)隅(yu)。"子曰(yue):"于止,知其所止。可(ke)以人而不如鸟乎?"《诗(shi)》云:"穆(mu)穆文王,于缉熙敬止!"为(wei)人(ren)君,止于(yu)仁;为(wei)人臣,止于敬;为人(ren)子,止于孝;为人(ren)父,止于(yu)慈(ci);与国(guo)人交,止于(yu)信。子曰:"听讼(song),吾犹人也(ye)。必也使(shi)无(wu)讼(song)乎(hu)!"无(wu)情者(zhe)不得尽其辞,大畏(wei)民志。此谓知(zhi)本。
